November 5, 2010 Ronda's Corner
The OCLC requests for our titles keep increasing as some of you already know. This is fantastic news for all involved. Thank you to everyone for being so willing to share your books and even a few videos.
Those of you that have received a request from me for a title may have noticed the little part in the comments "email me back and let me know asap". Trust me, it's not that I am an impatient person. OCLC only gives me 3 days to answer if we are sending the book before it automatically takes the request on to the next library on the list. If I don't hear back from you, or if I just wait to see if the book arrives, we lose that opportunity. By responding to me about the request, you give me the chance to let OCLC know that we will send the title. I can then wait until the book arrives without losing the request.
Just as a reminder -
Don't forget to send me your requests for multiple copies of titles you would like to have us purchase through CCD this year.
Did you sign up for Kathleen Odean's December 1st workshop?
This year's award is for "Friend of the Library". Get your nominations in.
I have received a few requests lately for Todd's evaluation sheet. If you would like a copy, you can access it right here. Over to the left in bold letters is CASLS Newsletter. Click on that and go to Newletter #6. Todd's sheet is in there. I will see what I can do about getting it in a more convenient place on the webpage soon.
